For many years, speaking the plain, unvarnished truth about Israel and its enemies, has eluded many western leaders, including the President of the United States.

But this past Wednesday, President Joe Biden changed all that.

He flew to Israel in the aftermath of the unspeakable carnage of 10/7 and in the midst of a ferocious war.

He put the United States squarely on the side of Israel and of justice.  He didn’t waffle.  He didn’t equivocate.  He didn’t mince words.

He spoke the truth.  And as simple as that may sound, it is an earthquake that will be felt all over the world.

He made it clear the United States would stand by Israel, today, tomorrow and forever.

He made it clear who started this awful war.

He made it clear who was responsible for the bombing of the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza.

The alleged Arab moderates, our allies, Jordan, Egypt and the Palestinian Authority, don’t consider truth to be essential in order to receive hundreds of millions of dollars in US aid.  They canceled their meeting with the president where humanitarian assistance to Gaza was going to be discussed.

Apparently, relieving the plight of innocent Palestinians caught in the war, isn’t high on their to-do list.

They prefer to hide the truth from the Arab street, stoking their rage over a blood libel.

But you don’t have to look to the middle east to find the truth-deniers.

Just look at the leaders of some American universities.

Their technique of truth avoidance is hiding behind the abused concept of the free expression of ideas.

Under that guise, they permit professors to publicly proclaim their glee over the torture, dismemberment and murder of Israelis.  They countenance their students to shout words of death for Jews and for the destruction of the one and only Jewish state.

University presidents regularly allow their Jewish students to be intimidated, victimized and ridiculed.  They coddle hate-filled professors.  Just ask a pro-Israel, Jewish college kid what it’s like on campuses around the country.

Take Harvard, for example.  It allowed 30 student organizations to turn truth on its head and proclaim Israel is “entirely responsible” for the Hamas war crimes of 10/7.  By parroting the line that glibly opposes all acts of terrorism, they equate what the Hamas butchers perpetrated to Israel’s right to defend itself.

They tightly wrap around themselves the cloak of free expression, giving the green light for virulent anti-Semites to speak openly at well organized and publicized student forums.

University leaders refuse to speak the truth to their anti-Semitic students.

Journalists are part of the truth avoidance game, too.  Some serve as passthroughs for terrorist propaganda, shunning attribution and context.  The bodycount from Gaza is fed to the reporters, hosts and talking heads by the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.  It is then repeated as if it had come from the US Department of Health. No eyebrows raised.  No questions asked.

Viewers are subjected to a constant news bombardment of split screens, that serve to reinforce the myth of moral equivalence.  On one side of the screen is the indiscriminate destruction from Hamas rockets that don’t differentiate between civilian and military targets.  On the other side are Israeli precision guided munitions that target military sites and are meticulously reviewed by lawyers before launching.  But on TV, they are given equal visual weight.

There are journalists that simplemindedly view the conflict as oppressor vs. oppressed and breathlessly rush to a biased judgment before waiting on the facts.

Maybe they should listen to Lucy Aharish, an Israeli-Arab journalist who, with crystal clear moral clarity, has no problem with telling the truth.

J’accuse celebrities with huge social media followings as well.

When 300 Nigerian girls were abducted by the terrorist group Boko Haram in 2014, there was an outpouring of outrage from Hollywood stars, demanding their release.  There was no what-aboutism by Salma Hayek, or Bradley Cooper, or Anne Hathaway.  The truth was plain for everyone to see.  It was evil perpetrated on innocents by terrorists.  But these same celebs have been stone silent about the Israeli men, women, children and babies dragged into Gaza by Hamas.  If only the truth could set them free.

The war Israel is waging right now against Hamas will end with the terrorists being destroyed.  But the battle will continue in the war for the truth that just got a huge boost from Joe Biden.

About a month ago I wrote that it was time for Biden to step aside and let another Democrat run for president.  That he was too feeble and not clear of mind to be the nation’s chief executive.

On Wednesday of this past week, he proved me wrong.  He is the first president to visit Israel during wartime.  He delivered a speech that will define his presidency, showing he understands the arc of world history and Jewish history.  He spoke forcefully, passionately and personally.  He spoke up for good vs. evil and for right vs. wrong.  He spoke up for Israel and by so doing he spoke up for the soul of America and for the free world.

Joe Biden spoke the truth.  Maybe it will liberate others to speak the truth as well.
