Courage Amongst the Curs

In the unworthy world of Israel haters, whatta week this was.

Where to start?

I’m going to begin in Europe, at the Vatican, with Pope Francis.

A new book came out this past week in honor of the Pope’s jubilee year.  It’s based on interviews with him.

And for the very first time, Francis openly called for an investigation to  determine if Israel has, or is, I guess, committing genocide in Gaza.

Here are a couple of quotes from the book:

“According to some experts, what is happening in Gaza has the characteristics of genocide.”

“We should investigate carefully to determine whether it fits into the technical definition formulated by jurists and international bodies.”

Well, that doesn’t sound so terrible, right?  Let the “jurists and international bodies” figure out if Israel is committing genocide in its war against Hamas, after it was invaded on October 7th and suffered the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.  Oh, and there’s that small issue of the hostages still being held by the terrorists.

I’m not saying Pope Francis is an Israel hater.  He’s met with released hostages and families of hostages still being held by Hamas and its cohorts.  But by raising the specter of Israeli perpetrated genocide, the Pontiff throws his weight behind the true genociders and their useful idiots and unscrupulous allies around the world.

Let me make this perfectly clear.  Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza.

The legal definition of genocide, according to the United Nations, is “a crime committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group in whole or in part.”  “Intent” being the operative word.

Yes, there is a war going on in Gaza.  It is a war started by those voted into power in Gaza.  You have to be out of your mind, or simply someone who despises Israel, to say Israel is out to eradicate the Gazans.

Israel has assiduously studied the maps and has moved hundreds of thousands of civilians out of harm’s way to liberate the Gaza Strip from the demonic control of Hamas.  It has done more to protect the Palestinians of Gaza than the people they elected to rule them.

It is sad and tragic that non-combatants have died during the conflict.    But is Israel intentionally trying to eradicate the people of Gaza?  Absolutely not.  Israel’s war against Hamas has a historically low civilian to combatant casualty ratio.  Every day, Israel sends hundreds of trucks loaded with food into Gaza to feed a population that was exuberantly supportive of the Hamas butchery of October 7th, and has helped hide the hostages from more than a year.

Here’s the truth.  The war can end without any further bloodshed, if Hamas lays down its arms and releases the hostages.  Instead, Hamas cynically uses the people of Gaza as human shields above ground, while they hide in their ubiquitous underground tunnels.

Okay, since the Pope brought up the jurists and international bodies, let’s take a look at the pound of Israel’s flesh those paragons of moral purity took this past week.

On Thursday, the ICC, the International Criminal Court based in The Hague, issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant.  It’s the first time it has ruled this way for a democratically elected head of state.

It says, there are “reasonable grounds” to believe they are criminally responsible for using murder, persecution and starvation as weapons of war as part of a “widespread and systematic attack against the civilian population of Gaza.”

There’s that genocide thing again.

Let me make this perfectly clear.  The only “widespread and systematic attack” against a civilian population occurred on October 7th, 2023 when Hamas and its supporters invaded southern Israel, and murdered, raped, defiled and kidnapped Israelis and citizens of other nations.

The ICC is a disgraceful organization, full stop.  The US doesn’t recognize its rulings but 124 other countries do.  Take the Netherlands, for example, where a pogrom took place a couple of weeks ago in the streets of Amsterdam.  It said it would uphold the arrest warrants.  Oh, and Canada will as well.

The ICC and whomever threatens to arrest Netanyahu and Gallant if they set foot on their soil, are squarely on the side of the Israel haters.  They’re empowering the terrorists and they’ve made freeing the hostages even more difficult.  They’ve made the righteous fight against radical Islam, the jihadists and the terror pimps of Tehran, even more daunting.

Speaking of disgraceful and Israel hating, did you see what 19 US Senators, all Democrats, did this past week?

Led by that prince of a politician, Sen. Bernie Sanders, they brought three resolutions to a vote to block the sale of various offensive weapons to Israel.

The good news is, the Senate voted overwhelmingly to reject Sanders and his crew, a crew that included Dick Durban, the second highest ranking Senate Democrat.  Another standout Israel hater, Durban voted in favor of all three resolutions.  The bad news is, that gang of 19, constitutes 30% of Democrat US Senators, so please don’t tell me the Israel haters in the Democratic Party are confined just to the members of the Squad.

Although the White House came out against the Sanders resolutions, let’s not forget what Bibi Netanyahu revealed this past week.  Netanyahu said that President Joe Biden threatened to “stop the shipments of important weapons” to Israel if the IDF entered Rafah.

If you think Bibi is lying, that threat was confirmed by Biden himself.  In an interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett prior to the Rafah incursion, he said, “I made it clear that if they go into Rafah I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities, to deal with that problem.”

The real problem is, the Democrats still have a big Israel problem that will drive more and more Jewish voters to the Republicans.

Alright, enough of the depressing news of the week.

I want to end with an amazing story of immense courage and dedication.  It’s the story of young people who have the right stuff, so to speak.

The IDF’s first unit of religious-only female combat soldiers, will be drafted this week.

Not only will the women fight for their country, they will also be able to uphold their faith.

One of the new recruits, 18-year old Rina May, told the Jerusalem Post, “I’ve always dreamed of contributing to my country in a meaningful way that resonated with me.”

These young women, these heroines, these lionesses, are the antithesis of those jurists, those senators, those political and religious leaders, those cowards and curs.  Lump them in with the effete morons on our university campuses that wave Hamas and Hezbollah flags, where the intimidation of Jewish students goes on, unabated.

Together with all their comrades in the IDF,  these amazing women aren’t only fighting for Israel’s survival, they’re also fighting for the survival of western values.

A million accolades to them and to all their fellow soldiers.  A million denunciations to all those who demonize, vilify, and condemn them and their nation.

Yes, this was a tough week for anyone who supports Israel.  But as the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope”
